We’re thrilled to announce the appointment of Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons Head of Resilience NSW and previously Commissioner of the NSW Rural Fire Service as the new patron for KidsXpress.
Shane is one of the most respected and trusted public sector figures in NSW and was widely applauded for his role in expertly and compassionately guiding us through the Black Summer bushfires of 2019-2020. Through both his work and personal experiences, Shane has a deep understanding of the traumatic impact a natural disaster can have on a child’s emotional well-being.
As our patron, Shane will support KidsXpress on our mission to improve the lives of children impacted by trauma, adversity and mental ill-health, a goal that is particularly pertinent after a year of unprecedented change and unrest.
With only 20-30% of children who experience mental ill-health accessing support services, we need to be making greater efforts to reach more children and their caregivers. With Shane’s role as Resilience NSW Commissioner at the new State agency responsible for building community resilience following a disaster or other traumatic event, Shane is the perfect patron for KidsXpress and we’re truly honoured to have him join our village.
