Hi there, my name is Elise – I’m one of the Expressive Therapists here at KidsXpress.
I have spent many years working with children in place-based community development, primary teaching, and Indigenous parenting programs for mum’s and their bubs in the Northern Territory. Through this work, I experienced the profound role of the creative arts as a tool to connect, strengthen identity and be an important catalyst in healing for children, families and communities. This lead me to my Masters in Art Therapy at Western Sydney University which I’m currently completing.
For children, expressing how they feel through words can sometimes be very difficult. I am most passionate about the intersection of art and play therapies as tools to support healing and expression. I delight in seeing children become who they are through forms most natural to them – art, play, dance, music and movement.
When I’m not at work I can found making mixed-media animal puppets and spending time in nature.
