Organisation Based Parent & Carer Workshops
The parent and carer workshops can be tailored to ensure alignment of the material delivered, the practical engagements used, and the existing knowledge and capacity of the clients. KidsXpress facilitators will engage you in advance of each training to assess your specific needs, desires, and outcome-goals for the training sessions.
There are six workshops that are designed as a half day (4 hour) training delivery. We emphasise the flexible design of the workshops because clients may wish to spend more time on certain topics while passing on others owing to existing familiarity and/or particular skillsets.
Workshop 1: Expressive Communication Workshop
This workshop is a great introduction to understanding feelings, self-regulation and communicating with kids using expressive therapy methods. It is structured to provide an interactive and experiential approach to understanding the fundamental knowledge behind behavioural responses in children, and the practical application of expressive therapy to nurture self-regulation, self-expression, communication and strong relationships with children.

Workshop A: Carer Self-Care and Wellbeing
This workshop covers subject matter that supports carers to understand, cope and manage their own emotional stressors so they are better able to support the child/children in their care.
Workshop B: Mindful Caring
Mindful caring supports carers to understand and manage their own emotional responses so they can effectively understand and respond to a child’s needs and behaviour.
Workshop C: Backbone of Strong Families
Within this workshop the focus is on using routine and consistency to support emotional and physical security within the child-carer connection and family unit.
Workshop D: Finding Calm
This workshop supports carers to confidently and compassionately respond to children during moments of strong emotion and challenging behaviour. Carers learn strategies from creative therapy which help children responsibly manage their own emotions and behaviour.
Workshop E: Connected Kids
Carers in this workshop will learn to proactively nurture a child’s social emotional skills such as positive self-esteem, strengths, relationships and learning habits.
